How To Test Your Fertility

Fertility describe its ability to reproduce. Infertility is a disease in which a person or a couple is unable to reproduce. This time can be frustrating and very difficult for an individual or couple who wish to become pregnant and have a baby. Infertility is generally described as the inability to conceive for a year of unprotected sex. If more than 35 years, can be described as the inability to conceive after six months of unprotected sex. During your consultation with a fertility doctor, he or she will ask a litany of questions about your health and lifestyle, including whether you smoke, drink much and how often you and your partner have sex. If both tests come back normal, the male is considered fertile, but if something does not work properly or does not look right, other tests may be needed. In some cases, semen or sperm be present, which could mean a blockage, which can be corrected by surgery.

Test of female infertility is a bit more complicated. Doctors can start ovulation monitoring and evaluating results to determine if the female is ovulating normally or not. The doctor may also measure the follicle-stimulating hormone in women (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Other tests that may be implemented include a test of cervical mucus, ultrasound and hormonal tests. However, other procedures must be performed to determine the cause of infertility, such as HSG or hysterosalpingogram (an x-ray of the uterus and fallopian tubes), hysteroscopy, laparoscopy or biopsy of the endometrium.
